Career transition

There is no guarantee that the career path your employees have chosen and worked hard to attain is going to give them the satisfaction they imagined it would. CTDS’s career transition programs are designed to assist organisations identify those individuals who wish to “self select out”, then set about helping them to decide upon their new direction and reach true career fulfillment. We are passionate about working with individuals to see them achieve their fullest professional and personal potential – an informed career choice and, ultimately, complete satisfaction within that career.

This is a very exciting journey! All people are different, so of course all CTDS’s career transition programs are customised to the specific needs of the individual. By examining core competencies, CTDS can help people “reinvent” themselves into what they want to be. We are skilled at bringing the best out in people and have found the following process achieves outstanding results:

  • Accept the reality of the current situation and identify positive experiences that will crystalise the “reinvention process”.
  • Develop an inventory of past experiences to determine patterns of satisfaction.
  • Define marketable assets: experience, knowledge, skills and talents, and determine how they can be transferred to other work environments.
  • Recognise preferred work environments.
  • Translate values, interests, skills and personal traits into Achievement Statements, then break them down into competencies.
  • Using all data collected, including analysis of personality and interests assessments undertaken, develop alternative career options.
  • Build a resume based on competencies rather than chronology.
  • Identify skills gaps and decide on appropriate training to fill them.
  • Research industries and roles in order to understand the current job market.
  • Learn how to tap into the “hidden job market” – statistics tell us that 75% of jobs are not advertised!
  • Identify, expand and maintain personal networks.
  • Build relationships with recruiters and Employment Agencies.
  • Prepare for an interview, including competency-based coaching and role plays.
  • Negotiating terms of employment, including salary.
  • If required, we can arrange a 1-to-1 meeting with an independent financial planner
who will prepare a basic financial plan.

We provide individually tailored and flexible programs that consistently achieve excellent career development outcomes.
